Questions before you test

Can Uptrace replace every Datadog product?
For teams primarily using APM, distributed tracing, metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts, Uptrace can cover the core observability workflow in one product. Datadog also provides specialized products such as RUM, synthetics, profiling, security, and incident management, so the most useful evaluation is based on the capabilities your team actively relies on.
Do I need to re-instrument services?
Usually not when services already use OpenTelemetry: point the OTLP exporter to Uptrace or send data to both backends through the Collector. Services currently instrumented only with Datadog libraries can be moved gradually to OpenTelemetry as part of the evaluation.
Is Datadog OpenTelemetry compatible?
Yes. Datadog supports OpenTelemetry SDKs, its DDOT Collector distribution, the open-source Collector, and direct OTLP ingestion. Feature coverage differs by setup, and Datadog currently recommends its SDK with DDOT.
How should I compare real pricing?
